Appointments are available between 9 am – 530 pm Mon-Friday depending on each psychologist’s availability.

Waratah Psychology is located at 52a Ayr St, Doncaster 3108 (behind Kat’s Cakes). Entry is via the side gate on Outhwaite St. Parking is available at the front of the building (metered) or on Outhwaite St (unmetered).

Referrals may be faxed or emailed by your GP. Alternatively, they can be uploaded when completing our intake form.

Waratah Psychology charges a standard fee of $188.60 per session.

Sessions last approximately 50 minutes.

Clients with a referral from their GP under the Medicare Better Access Scheme are eligible for a medicare rebate of $92.90 Leaving a gap fee of $95.70

During the intake stage, we will request your card details which will be stored via Braintree, a secure online gateway managed by PayPal. When you attend your session, your card will be automatically charged at the halfway mark. Invoices will be automatically emailed to you upon the payment being made.

Waratah Psychology will send an SMS reminder 72 hours before your appointment. If 48 hours notice is not provided, then cancellation fees will apply. Unfortunately cancellation fees cannot be claimed through Medicare or Private Health Insurance. Cancellation fees are as follows:

>48 hours – no charge

0-48 hours – a fee of $80 will be charged

The first session will focus on your history and assessment of current mental health symptoms. Your psychologist will be genuinely interested in understanding your situation and will ask you a series of questions to determine how they can best support you.

If you have supplied your referral to us prior to your first appointment, your Medicare rebate will be automatically processed during the appointment. Rebates take approximately 24-48 hours to be received. If you do not receive your rebate please check the account you have registered with Medicare via MyGov or by contacting Medicare directly.

You can still organise an appointment to see one of our psychologists. If you are eligible for a mental health care plan, and wish to claim the Medicare rebate, you will need to organise a mental health care plan and request a referral through your GP.

Alternatively, clients can pay in full if they are not using Medicare. In this case, no referral is required.

If you don’t have Medicare, you can pay in full as a private client.

Yes. For private health insurance claims, rebate amounts vary and should be verified directly with individual health funds. Clients will need to organise their rebates directly with the fund.

If you are accessing a mental health care plan, Medicare approves ten rebated sessions per calendar year. After this, if you wish to have more sessions, you can pay privately or use private health insurance if available.

After your sixth session, your psychologist will write to your GP to let them know how you are progressing in therapy. you will need to make an appointment with your GP to request a referral for a further four sessions.

All of our psychologists are registered for Workcover and can bill your insurer directly, so no out-of-pocket fees or pre-payment applies.

Depending on your needs and preferences, you can arrange your next appointment to best suit you and your therapy goals. Generally, we see clients initially weekly or fortnightly, moving to monthly or further apart as required.

Yes we do! All of our psychologists are available either online or in person. If you prefer Telehealth appointments, you will receive a link to the sessions, once you’re booked in.
